A trip to the HC Andersen Musem, Odense

At HC Andersen Musem, Odense

This being the bicentenary of the birth of Hans Christian Andersen, he is pretty much ubiquitous. Saskia's class had had him as a theme for much of the autumn so we promised her a trip to the HC Andersen museum in his native town of Odense during the school holidays. It took us 2.5 hours to drive there. Luckily there was a whole extra museum just for children, as the HC Andersen exhibit itself was pretty dry stuff!

The kids' museum, Fyrtøjet, was quite small but nevertheless had plenty to keep children occupied and creative for several hours. Each child got to loan a small suitcase with different materials and a list of activities. They could also dress up in any of many costumes hanging at the entrance and have their face painted.
